Renewed interest in oil palm
The oil palm industry in Nigeria now, is becoming better organized with active associations, such as Plantation Owners Forum of Nigeria (POFON), Oil Palm Growers Association of Nigeria (OPGAN) and National Palm Produce Association of Nigeria (NPPAN). Through these associations, the foot print of the industry is now visible and providing the fulcrum on which support can be provided to growers and processors. In this regard, the intervention of state governments such as some States and the Central Bank of Nigeria are worthy of mention. We have since the inception of the renewed CBN intervention in oil palm in 2019, assured the Bank and stakeholders of support to the programme, through provision of quality, high yielding oil palm seeds and seedlings.
